Now this is something very near and dear to my heart.

You may or may not have read my old article from a few years back on how to ground yourself based on your zodiac sign (which was more just for fun), but this article is a little more in depth.

It can be easy for those who are deep into practicing meditation to get caught up ‘outside themselves” so to speak.

Meanwhile it’s nice up there and all in the lovely crown chakra, it is not serving you; for it is not balanced without the other counterparts.

We came into these bodies to be present in everything that we do, not to try and escape it. I’m guilty of being caught up in higher meditational states and wanting to stay there.

Now I’m not saying to completely close down your connection to the things stated above, but to rather integrate them into being here now.

I’m going to get real with you here on how to balance yourself and that root chakra!

How to automatically ground yourself

  1. As soon as you wake up, you roll out of bed (drink some water), and go straight outside. Walk outside your house, and find the closest patch of grass, then go and stand on it (with bare feet!) Most people probably think this is strange, or they already know this and just never apply it. It is important that everyone does this, especially for those of us who need to ground more.
  2. Go to drum circles! Seriously! The indigenous of this world knew the magic of musical harmonics and its healing powers. But the drum is one of the strongest grounding instruments available. With deep percussion connecting you to what is. Bonus points if you get up the courage to go and dance in the middle of it!
  3. Big meditation person? Then this one is for you. During meditation to focus your energies (starting from your solar plexus) going deep into the earth. Imagine a strong flow moving all the unbalanced, anxious energy in your body down through this energetic cord. Imagine it moving into the core of the planet to be cleansed and restored. Then after starting this to imagine another cord coming from the core of the planet, and connecting to you through the soles of your feet. Imagine the stream coming from the planet as nurturing, grounding, and balanced energy cleansing all stress/anxiety. Imagine it coming through your feet and filling up all your chakras along the way (slowly) up to the solar plexus. Then keep the energy cycle moving in this cycle in tandem with the other cord exiting the body, this is a very strong grounding meditation practice.
  4. Spend more time outside! Our bodies were made to be in the sun! Especially practicing yoga outside will be of great help. Nothing grounds you more than when your awareness is calm enough to pay attention to the current moment in nature.
  5. Wear red, paint a wall in your room red, sleep with a deep red comforter on your bed, paint your nails a deep maroon red, basically surrounding yourself with red. Color therapy is a very real thing and works wonders. Is there a color that you’re not really fond of and would never wear, want as a cell phone case, etc.? Chances are then that there is a blockage in that chakra wherever that aversion is (future article on this at a later date). Surrounding yourself with the color red resonates with deep grounding, and stability.
  6. Eat some “heavy” foods. And by heavy I don’t just mean meat. Hearty, warm meals are very good at helping you come back down to Earth. Root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and turnips are especially great for helping you root down. Plus the warmth from your food is also very nourishing for you on multiple levels. Food indeed thy medicine.

I hope that some of these tips help you be more grounded in your environment and throughout the day! I know that they definitely help me.

With love until next time,

Sara
